Both federal and state governments provide financial help for individuals who cannot afford to pay for health care. Funding is not available for every individual nor for every business that provides care. Lakewood’s home is licensed in the State of Michigan but not as a nursing home. Due to regulations, there is no government financial support available to help pay for the cost of care at Lakewood. Care is paid for with personal funds and most long term care insurance policies.
If you have been involved in an automobile accident, there may be money available through your auto insurance company that will pay for care.
If you or your spouse served in a branch of the U.S. Military, there is a benefit available to help pay for care.
There is state government money available to help cover 3-4 days of respite care which provides temporary relief for primary caregivers who care for others. This program is referred to as a waiver program.
